About Me

My photo
Welcome. My name is Lisa and I live on a farm in Northeastern PA. I have a wonderful husband of over 30 years and two fabulous sons. One with a wonderful wife and another with a wonderful girlfriend. I have a 6 year old granddaughter and an 4 year old grandson. We have a dog, two cats, and 5 horses. I started into this art as a possible scrapbooker until my good friend Lou Ann (SCS Crooked Stamper) invited me to a Stampin' Up party. Now I'm hooked. We had to turn a room of our home into a craft room for all my stuff. Then I needed a second craft room and did classes. Then I decided to open an in home store using three more rooms of our home. Between Lou Ann (Crafter and IT department) and Mary Ann (Crafter and Jewelry department) and a few other friends, I'm having the time of my life!!!!

F& F Fly

Here's a challenge for a group that I have never done before.  For the last several weeks I've been following Linda Coughlin aka The Funky Junkie.  I just love her projects.  She has a challenge blog called The Frilly and Funky Challenge Blog.  This week they're looking for some texture.  So I went TEXTURE!  To start, I inked the raised portion of a Tim Holtz ef Bricked with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink to blacken the debossed areas on the SU Riding Hood Red cs.  I then ran my blending tool lightly over the whole card to even it out a little.

Next, I cut away the tulle on the May Arts Ivory Frayed Flowers (that I got from the Funky Junkie's Boutique, or FJB for short).  In the center I put a TH (Tim Holtz) washer and TH long fastener.  But before attaching it to the flower I put it through TH Film Striip Ribbon (I used the sample that was outside the package, which conveniently had an eyelet.  The stem is made from the Mini Flourish by TH using White Corrugated Cardboard, both from the FJB.  I inked it with Distress Vintage Photo.  I used a glue dot for the flower and TH Tiny Attacher
The lace was some very old stuff I had around.  I used some paper the TH Paper Stash dsp (the printed paper and calender) and used Glossy Accents to attach the TH fragment.  I also stuck a tiny piece of lace on top.
For the bottom of the card I used the other half of the old lace and painted an old key with TH Distress Crackle Paint in Vintage Photo.  I took another piece of Film Strip Ribbon and attached it to the card after threading some burlap thread through it.  I cut out a TH Movers and Shapers bird, attached the word "Fly" from TH Chitchat stickers.  I pop-dotted the bird.   Links to products are things I got from FJB, but she carries many of the other items I used.  I just hadn't found her yet.  PS  Her prices are GREAT!

  3. Oh, be still my heart! I'm in love with your gorgeous vintage lace, Lisa! I have some beautiful lace too, but have such a hard time using it! Wow, does it ever make a fab creation. Maybe you have inspired me to start using some of mine. Your piece is just oozing with texture and material. Your red brick BG is terrific and I LOVE the way you attached the bit of filmstrip - just brilliant. So happy to have you joining in the fun with us again this week!
