About Me

My photo
Welcome. My name is Lisa and I live on a farm in Northeastern PA. I have a wonderful husband of over 30 years and two fabulous sons. One with a wonderful wife and another with a wonderful girlfriend. I have a 6 year old granddaughter and an 4 year old grandson. We have a dog, two cats, and 5 horses. I started into this art as a possible scrapbooker until my good friend Lou Ann (SCS Crooked Stamper) invited me to a Stampin' Up party. Now I'm hooked. We had to turn a room of our home into a craft room for all my stuff. Then I needed a second craft room and did classes. Then I decided to open an in home store using three more rooms of our home. Between Lou Ann (Crafter and IT department) and Mary Ann (Crafter and Jewelry department) and a few other friends, I'm having the time of my life!!!!

Strawberry Trifle Recipe Card

Hi All!   I've got a story to tell about Wednesday night's great class. To start with, anyone who knows me knows that I'm a last minute kinda gal. I don't do it on purpose, but sometimes the old creative juices aren't flowing. So when I told Lou Ann weeks ago that I'd design the recipe card for her Strawberry Trifle, I though easy peasy. Right? Wrong! She emailed me the recipe to put on the card, but I couldn't come up with anything. Until Tuesday, one day before class. I wasn't totally happy with the card, but I sent it to Lou Ann and she liked it, so I was good. Well, I only had a very limited amount of the designer paper, and I had enough for eight. Problem was, Pam does two cards and I do three, two were needed for people that couldn't come and there were four people in class besides Pam and I that were just doing one. 2 + 3 + 3 + 4 does not equal 8.
It just happened that we got a shipment of the new Maja Design Paper, and I knew that the color of "Summertime" were reds and blues, so I checked out the sheets and THEY HAD STRAWBERRY PAPER! With two hours to go before the class, this is what I came up with.

It was really simple.  I just blended some Distress Peeled Paint with my blending tool onto a 6X6 piece of white cs.  Then I blended some Distress Walnut Stain Ink .  Don't worry about the middle of the cs.  It's going to be covered with your dsp.

Then I took a 12X12 piece of dsp from Maja Design Summertime collection called Light Scarlet and cut out a piece at 6x6.  Then I cut about a 3X3 square out of the center.  Save that for latter.

I wet the outside edge and rolled toward the gingham side to get that nice worn look. Next it was time to ink the edges with Distress Walnut Stain.

Then I took a 12X12 piece of dsp from the same collection called Taste the Strawberries.  I cut that into a 6x6 sheet and ripped all the corners.  Remember that our base is 6x6 so we want the red gingham to be smaller and the strawberry paper to be smaller yet.  I would rip some off and then place it into the red gingham to see how it would fit.  You can alway rip more, but you can't put more back on.
OK!  Remember that 3x3 piece of red gingham?  Well, it's time to use it.  I used my SU punch once for the name on the recipe card, and twice on the gingham.  I also used the round tag hole die and the corner die twice.  I then used the half circle die for the recipe itself.  These cool die are from Elizabeth Crafts Tags & More 3 - Leaves.  It a great set with three corner, four tag hole covers, a die for the top of the tag and some cool leaves.

Here's the recipe from the computer

Cut your punched labels & attach to title

To finish cutting my little tag, I just lined up the side die cut with to wire on my Fiskars cutterI don't know what I'd do without that wire to line things up.

Put your red gingham together and adhere everything.  Put lace through the tag and under the Strawberry paper where it is pulled back.  I had a strawberry stamp and die that I popped up on the bottom of the recipe card.

And now you've got yourself a recipe card!   YUMMO!

Thanks for stopping by!
