About Me

My photo
Welcome. My name is Lisa and I live on a farm in Northeastern PA. I have a wonderful husband of over 30 years and two fabulous sons. One with a wonderful wife and another with a wonderful girlfriend. I have a 6 year old granddaughter and an 4 year old grandson. We have a dog, two cats, and 5 horses. I started into this art as a possible scrapbooker until my good friend Lou Ann (SCS Crooked Stamper) invited me to a Stampin' Up party. Now I'm hooked. We had to turn a room of our home into a craft room for all my stuff. Then I needed a second craft room and did classes. Then I decided to open an in home store using three more rooms of our home. Between Lou Ann (Crafter and IT department) and Mary Ann (Crafter and Jewelry department) and a few other friends, I'm having the time of my life!!!!

Let Your Light Shine - Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2016 Technique Remix - January

Hi All!  Well, this is my first challenge tag for Tim's 12 tags of 2016 and I'm super excited about it.  Lou Ann (aka Crooked Stamper) thought it would be a great class for the group.  And she was right again.  We all love Tim's style who doesn't love a little inspiration.   For January the challenge are the techniques of Industrious Metal and Chalkboard.                                              I started out with a #10 tag.  When it came to the embossing of  the foil tape, I did it a little differently than Tim.  I didn't want to put a slit in my Riveted Metal embossing folder, and since the metal was only on the ends and not the middle, I attached the foil to scrap cs and ran it thought my embosser.  When it came out, I cut it in the middle and attached it to my tag.  I used Black Soot paint all over the metal, and wiped the excess with a paper towel.  What a great look!   Now I had my "Industrial" look.                                And now, for the "Chalkboard" part of the challenge.  I used a scrap piece of black cs (using up alot of scraps) and my Rays stencil.  With my Ranger Emboss It Dauber I daubed up the stencil, and then sprinkled on Ranger Frosted Crystal Embossing Powder.  I heated it until it become a matte finish and get a kind of gritty feel.  Don't let it get shiny, or it becomes a resist and you don't want that. I rubbed my yellow chalk down to a smooth angle on scrap paper and then rubbed it over my embossed rays.  I rubbed it with my finger and the chalk on the non-embossed area faded, but still had enough left on it to give it that chalkboard look.                     To finish it off I used a vintage lamp cover from Prima's Junkyard collection, I stamped the "Philbric Electic Co." from Tim's Adverts Stamp Set.  I typed the "Let your light shine" on my computer, cut it out, and inked it with Hickory Smoke.  And it's all topped off with a little ribbon from Tim's Metallic Trimmings.
     Thanks for looking!

Skate Away

Hi everyone.  This is an ATC card from the first ATC class of 2016 at The Craft Shack.  We are doing one card a month all year and will end up with a tray full of these mini treasures.  And because they are going into a tray and not my ATC album they can have lots of dimension  Lou Ann and I are taking turns designing them and she came up with this month's name.  But I got to make it.
First, I stamped the woodgrain stamp from MFT "Western Backgrounds"  in Frayed Burlap Distress Ink on the red cs.
I used Tim Holtz  Grungeboard to cut out the skates from  I painted it with Pickett Fence Crackle Paint and let it air dry. I know you can heat it after the crackling starts, but if I have the time I'd rather not.  Rub a little Walnut Stain Ink over it with your finger after the paint dries.  It absolutely looks like old cracked leather.  Use a regular black Sharpie for the heel.and Inka Gold-silver painted on the blades.  Then poke some holes for your twine laces adding a couple Darice tiny rusty bells, and you have yourself a pair of skates.
Tim's calendar was too big for the card, so I stamped it with Brown StazOn ink onto a 2" wide strip of Shrirky Dink Shrinkable Plastic. I punched it out with a SU tag topper punch.  Make sure you do any punching or piercing for your hole before you shrink your plastic  When they shrink down they get thicker.  You can bake them in your oven, or line a little box with foil and use a heat tool to shrink it down.  I felt like I was 8 again!  (My age, not my size.  Although I'll never see either of those again)  Then I attached it to the card and hooked the twine over it.
The little snowflakes you see are from the scraps of a Memory Box die that I used for my Christmas cards this year.  There were so many, and it seemed a waste to throw them away.

And that's my card.  Hope you like it.  Make sure to check Lou Ann's blog for the February ATC!  Along with lots of other great inspirations.

Live in the Moment

I did this tag after the fourth color of Tim Holtz's Color of the Month came out, and I used all four.
Here is a tag that I did for a class several months ago.  It combines Tim Holtz, who I LOVE, with Gabrielle Pollacco, who I also LOVE.
First I got a Ranger #10 Manilla Tag.  Then, I used Tim Holtz Distress paints in Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon.  I painted them diagonally to look like the sunshine coming through the water.
I cut out the sand dollars and Sea horse with Tim's Sea and Sand Movers and Shapers dies.  The sand dollar is on off white paper and distressed with Walnut Stain Distress ink.  I didn't want it just floating in the middle of the tag, so I cut it in two and placed it on the bottom and side.  The Sea horse was cut with Tim's Grungboard, painted with Mermaid Lagoon.  On top of that is Tim's Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  I just love how that ages things.  Then I smeared more Walnut Stain ink on it with my finger.  It's so fun to get messy.
For the stamping I used a SU coral with Abandoned Coral Paint.  I really liked how it turned out, but beware.....clean your stamp right away after using paint!     I stamped the sentiment on another piece of off white paper and cut it with a Spellbinders Deckled Rectange die.   I left the die on the paper and inked it with Fossilized Amber Ink .  It makes a perfect frame.  Next I stamped the net with Gabi's Dandilion Stamps .  And for the bubbles I used Gabi's Texture Stamp Set.  After highlighting with my White Uniball Pen you'd swear the bubbles were raised up from the tag.
The ribbon was a white sheer and I just sprayed some Fossilized Amber Spray Stain on my Ranger Non Stick Craft Sheet and sopped up the ink with the ribbon.  Easy Peasy!

The best part is that all this stuff is 25% off until January 31, 2016.
