F&F Love the Fall

Hi All,  Happy Fall.  Here in NE PA the mornings are crisp & clear and the leaves are turning.  What a beautiful site.  Today the sun is shining and a gentle breeze is blowing.  The fleece sheets are on my bed and the comforter makes a cozy nest.  Linda (The Funkie Junkie) over at her Frilly & Funky Challenge Blog has made a fabulous card to inspire all the play along with her Fall into Fall Challenge.  Time to mix those vibrant rich tones and the earthtones of the season.

I started by die cutting the wreath.  Then I went through my dsp and came up with an some old SU called Autumn Meadows.  I had just bought some Mini Tag Canvas Pieces and wanted to see how ink would look on that.  I thought it came out pretty good.  Next, into my bag of goodies from The Funky Junkie Boutique.  I came up with that pretty brown lace and some colorful twine (she wraps it around old brown clothespins.  It's so cute).  The two leaves laying in front of the card were gifts from Linda for an order I made.  The image is from a scrap of material from Farmhouse Memories located at 148A Harristown Road  Paradise, PA near Lancaster.  She has an incredible shop with so many cards made using material which are fantastic and quilts like WOW!  If you're ever in the Lancaster area, it's worth the stop.  Just check her hours.  I attached it to a single sided adhesive sheet and die cut it with a Spellbinders Circle.  The leaves were punched and colored with Distress Inks.  I then wrinkled them up to look better.  Add a couple buttons and a brass chicken (don't ask why) and WaLa!  Love the Fall.

OCCC Butterflies

     I am so excited.  The team at Our Creative Corner choose a card a entered in one of their challenges few weeks ago, (denim + three buttons + ribbon or twine) and I've been asked to be their guest designer this week.  Chris Barnes has come up with a great challenge for color and elements.  Using the photo on the left, make a project with those colors as well as using at least two buttons, and some polka dots. 

     I started out by looking for the colors.  I fould just what I was looking for with Graphic 45's "Little Darlings Collection".  Not only did they have the colors I wanted in a border strip with the butterflies, they had some green polka-dot paper too!

     So with a base of SU Very Vanilla, my first layer was the polka-dot dsp.  Add to that the butterfly border with a little lace trim.  So what do you put on a card with a butterfly border?  Why, butterflies of course! 

     So I got my SU Papillon Potpourri stamp set and the matching SU Butterfly punch.  I embossed them with SU Black embossing powder and colored them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks of Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, and Mustard Seed.  I then spritzed (is that a word?) them with Tsukineko Sparkle Shimmer Mist, for a little sparkle on my wings.   I couldn't find any buttons I liked, but a I found my never before used SU Itty Bitty Buttons.  So, armed with my already  inked TH Blending Tools, I colored some cs and punched them out with my SU Itty Bitty Punch.  For the thread I used DMC Ecru floss.  I die cut an oval from Spellbinder's Floral Ovals.  I then stamped the sentiment from Verve's "Beautiful You".  I cut it out with a Spellbinder's Oval die and attached the buttons and bow.  I then pop-dotted it on top of the Floral Oval.

WMSC115 Ho Ho Ho

Hi all!  I'm back with another sketch challenge card.  Jennifer Holmes was brought us WMSC115, and it's a cutie.  I haven't done a Christmas card yet, and I thought this would be a great one.  I used stamps from three different Waltzingmouse sets and I think they go great with each other.  My dsp is an oldie but a goodie from  SU.  And accessories from all over the place.

I used silver on the the presents and the brads holding up the sentiment that I pushing in a little so that the middle popped out.  I also used Encore Metallic Silver with SU Silver embossing powder for the HoHoHo and snowflakes   And what can I say about the Waltzmouse Christmas Stamps.  They are all so stinkin' cute I  used one from each set I have.

Scripture & Flourish

Hi all!  I started making this card weeks ago. It could have even been a challenge sketch.  I had the paper and the sentiment, but couldn't seem to get any farther.  Today as I was semi-tidying up I found it and decided to put on a few pearls and flourishes.  As it is only a 4 X 4 card I cut the two flourishes into several pieces and attached them.  Now my problem is that I have NO IDEA where I put the sentiment stamp, or who makes it.  If you know, please let me know.  I hate not giving credit.  Hope you enjoy it.

Yipee!  My favorite kind of challenge...It's A Sketch Challenge.  That's right!  Chris from Our Creative Corner has come up with a great sketch.  The card also needs to be for a male. Well, it just so happens that I got a new Tim Holtz stamp set that I thought would be just right.   

The only things I did that was more than just putting a card together was that I embossed the pens with SU Black Embossing Powder after stamping them with Tim Holtz Black Soot, and I put a thumbprint on the sentiment panel.  If you haven't checked out the OCC, stop on by.  Have a great day!

     Hi!  I'm back.  And sorry to be so late with these challenges.  There's still time for both, but not long.  The first challenge for this card was Our Creative Corner's Challenge "Kiss the Card and a Twist".   I can't say I've never been kissed, but I've never kissed a stamp before.  Well, it's time for me to kiss and tell.  There are several ways to do it and OCC has a great link.  My choice was to ink a solid stamp (a Blossom from SU Build a Blossom) with a light colored ink and stamp that stamp with a non-solid stamp (I used Tim Holtz Fabulous Flourishes) after inking it in a darker ink.  It's a technique I will be using again.  The twist of the challenge is to use X & O. 

     The second challenge is Studio L3's Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 20.  Linda (she's the "L" in Studio L3) gives a page # and technique from Tim Holtz's Compendium of Coruisities books.  This one is page 44 in volumn 2, which is enameled stamping.  The rule is, I can't tell you how to do it (or why would Tim write the book), but I strongly suggest that if you like things Tim, go get both  1 & 2 of his Compendium of Curiosities.  You won't be sorry. 

     So without further ado, may I present XOX.

     In the first picture of the whole card you can ssee the kissing I did on the pedals.  After kissing them I punched out nine and glued their sides together  using little clamps from the hardware store.  I then flatten them out and attached two different enameled pieces.  So how pitted and cool that is.  They are also have a cool texture and I'm really liking that.

Sue's Birthday

     Tomorrow is the second Tuesday of the month which means the Gigglers will be celebrating all the birthdays for the month of September.  Sue is our only birthday girl from the group this month and is also the newest member of our group.  I couldn't think of anything to do, so my DDIL came up with falling leaves, falling years.  The inside of the card reads "Let's Party".   

     Well, you know how I'm always talking about getting thank you gifts from the Funkie Junkie.  She sent me the leaves.  So a big thank you to Linda.  Also, note to Linda, my next order is about ready.  I just had to color them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.   

     The sentiment I just typed on my computer and printed on cardstock.  Everything else was just blending inks and glueing.    I hope she doesn't check out my blog until after tomorrow night.

WMSC114 The Bee's Knees

     It's Sunday night and dh is watching a football game while I'm playing cardmakers.  And look at this adorable sketch by Anya Schrier for the Waltzingmouse Challenge WMSC114.  It's another 4 X 4 card for me and I'm really getting to like the size and shape.  And this sketch has a whole bunch of something (those little circles) to put on the card.  Along with the sketch you have to use at least one Waltzingmouse stamp.

     While going through my WM stamps I came across "you're the bee's knees" stamp, which made me think of a card I just saw made by Linda (aka The Funkie Junkie) just did using a Tim Holtz honeycomb ef.  So that's what I did, sponging on some Tim Holtz Distress Mustard Seed.  The rest is totally simple with brads, ribbon, pom-poms the some stickles.

VLVSep2012 Mercies

     Happy Saturday!  It's raining (or should I say pouring) in our little corner of NEPA.  But that's OK because I'm playing with my cards anyway.  Today I did the first of the Viva la Verve Sept Challenge from Verve aka VLVSep2012.  It's a great sketch by Amber Hight. 

     Where my last card had so little variety of products, this one is across the board.  It's a square card then I decided to rotate on it's side.  

      Nothing really noteworthy.  Just cutting squares and die cutting circles, but I did do a Memory Box die and used my SU butterfly stamps and punch for the first time (the punch was only for the Monarch butterfly) I embossed the butterflies and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink for the wings.

MOJO Monday 257, Dance

     Happy Friday, and a TGIF for those waiting for the weekend.  And Happy MOJO Monday  for me. Julee made a great sketch but it really took my little mind awhile to put paper to it.  After going through my paper packs I found an interesting one with Graphic 45. What really caught my eye was the little piano keys.  And then, page after page just jumped on my card.  Even the pictures of the dancers and the sentiment was on the dsp.

Sunshine Wishes

     I was starting this tag for the last OCC Challenge of resist stamping, but couldn't work out the wings.  Anyway, it was a fun tag to make.  I started out with a large tag from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  If you've never shopped with Linda before, you have to check her out.  Her prices are the best I've found, she's got so much cool stuff, and Linda ALWAYS gives great thank you gifts.  The beautiful lace on the bottom of my tag was a thank you gift. 

     OK, OK, OK, back to the tag.  First I stamped the sunflower, colored with Tim Holtz Distress Markers (Check out the Funkie Junkie for her price) I then covered it with Glossy Accents so that the embossing wouldn't stamp over the flower.  After drying overnight I was ready for the next step.  Like my last card, I stamped a script image on the bottom of the tag using Ranger Emboss It.  I then sprinkled Ranger Clear Embossing Powder over it and used to heat tool to melt it.  I used various colors of Distress ink to blend unto the tag and last but not least I used glue and flocking for the center of the sunflower. Oops!  I also used Crackle Accent on the Sunshine sentiment and put on the lace on the bottom and ribbon on the top.  THANKS FOR STOPPING. Oops again....I used flock on the inside of the sunflower.

OCCC Resist with a Twist

     Our Creative Corner has got me back in the challenge game again.  That, and I got my computer fixed and I finally found my camera.  On this challenge they are looking for a resist technique, but you need wings somewhere on the card.  So here is mine. 

     With this card I stamped the background image with Ranger Emboss It, sprinkled on the Ranger Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set it.  At that point all I had was a bumpy white card. 

     Next, I got out my Tim Holtz Distress Inks and my ink blenders to add Mustard Seed to the background.  My dandelions and others weeds were starting to become visable, but not as much as I wanted.  So back to the Distress Inks for a little Broken Glass.  The mixture of the two colors blending made a great green color.   As I picked up the card and was giving it a closer look I realized how cool the texture of the card was.  I can't keep my hands from running over the embossing.  But, enough about my new fetish. 

  

          For my wings, I decided to go with butterflies from Cheery Lynn Disign.  The first one I did using Tim Holtz Stonewash Alcohol Ink with Pearl Mixative and Blending Solution.  Next, I gave it a spritz of Sheer Shimmer.   

                                                            

     For my second butterfly, I used Luminarte Daubers and Spritzers.  I won a couple of daubers at the CKC convention in Lancaster this year, and of course I had to have more.  So after appling Sky and Poppy Red and did a sprtiz in Bashful Blue (no relation to SU). 

    

     A die cut here.  A black embossed sentiment there, distressing the card base and front, and TaDa.....Resist with a Twist.  Thanks for looking!
